Real-World Examples

What people actually convert with this tool.

🐛

Bug repro GIF for a GitHub issue

You screen-recorded a 12-second bug. Convert it at 10fps / 480px and paste the GIF straight into the GitHub issue or README — it autoplays inline where MP4 attachments often don't. Because nothing is uploaded, internal company screens stay on your machine.

💬

Reaction GIF from your own clip

Grab the perfect 3-second moment from a phone video (your dog's double-take, a friend's reaction), convert at 15fps / 320px, and it drops into any chat app as a looping GIF — no meme site account required.

📧

Product demo in an email or landing page

Email clients block video, but they render GIFs. Convert a 8-second feature demo at 10fps / 480px and embed it in your newsletter or docs page where a video player can't go.

🎓

Micro-tutorial for a wiki or Notion doc

A 15-second "here's where the setting lives" recording becomes a small looping GIF that plays inline in Notion, Confluence, or Slack — teammates see the steps without clicking play.

Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know.

How do I convert MP4 to GIF for free?
Drop your MP4 into the converter, select the segment with the sliders, pick a frame rate and width, and click Convert to GIF. It's free, watermark-free, and runs entirely in your browser.
Is my video uploaded anywhere?
No. Frames are decoded with your browser's WebCodecs API and encoded to GIF locally with the open-source gifenc library. The video never leaves your device — safe even for confidential screen recordings.
What settings make the smallest GIF?
Use 240px width, 5–10 fps, and the shortest segment that shows what you need. GIF size grows roughly with width² × frames, so halving the width quarters the file size.
Why is the GIF limited to 30 seconds?
GIF is an inefficient format — 30 seconds at 480px can already exceed 20MB. For longer content, trim the video instead and share it as MP4, which is dramatically smaller.
Does the GIF include sound?
No — the GIF format itself has no audio support. Every video-to-GIF converter drops the audio track; that's a limitation of GIF, not this tool.
