Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know.

Is my password sent to any server when protecting a PDF?
No. Password protection is applied entirely in your browser using pdf-lib and crypto-js. Neither your PDF nor your password is ever uploaded to any server.
What encryption is used to protect PDFs?
QuickImageHub uses AES-256 encryption via the pdf-lib library, which is the standard encryption method used by Adobe Acrobat and most PDF viewers.
Can I unlock a PDF if I forgot the password?
The Unlock PDF tool can remove protection from PDFs where you know the owner password. If you have genuinely lost the password, the encryption cannot be reversed.
Does PDF password protection work on all PDF viewers?
Yes. The AES-256 encrypted PDFs produced by QuickImageHub are compatible with Adobe Acrobat, macOS Preview, Chrome PDF viewer, and all standard PDF readers.
